G. E. Alan Dever, PhD, MT, MD (hon), has been at MUSM since 1979 and has served as Associate Dean for Primary Care; Chair, Department of Community Medicine; Grassmann Chair of Rural Medicine; and, Director, Master of Public Health Program at Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) in Macon, Georgia. From 1974-1978 he was the State Epidemiologist for Georgia. He has held positions at Emory, University of Maryland, and University of Michigan. He has authored several books, the latest being Improving Outcomes in Public Health Practice: Strategy and Methods. His books have been translated into Spanish, Portugese, Japanese, and Chinese. Dr. Dever has written numerous articles in refereed journals and is active in many professional organizations serving on a number of editorial boards such as the Journal of Rural Health, The American Journal of Medicine, Journal of Agromedicine, et al.
